Advocating For Far-Reaching Change In The Social Change Sector
Global Projects
The Youth Excel Issue-Based Collaborative Network (ICON) model brings together around 10 local youth-led organizations (YLOs) in each of 6 locations across 4 different countries to gather evidence, make recommendations to system stakeholders, and implement changes in local youth programming. Root Change provided technical assistance and systems mapping support to help YLOs monitor their growing networks and identify key stakeholders in youth economic development. Members formulated recommendations to enhance youth participation in development, which were shared with adult stakeholders, increasing dialogue with decision-makers and improving local development efforts.
Root Change led a two-year capacity development study with the International Federation of the Red Cross (IFRC) training 50+ peer researchers across 28 countries. It found that purposeful networking by civil society organizations improved organizational performance, informing the creation of STAR (System for Transformation and Results), our tool suite for sustainable organizational development.
