Libby Hoffman

The founder and president of US-based foundation Catalyst for Peace, Libby has pioneered an inside-out architecture for peace and development, where those most impacted by violence and war lead in building the peace and restoring social wholeness. She co-founded Fambul Tok in Sierra Leone and has accompanied its growth from post-war community reconciliation to national policy framework, as chronicled in her award-winning book The Answers Are There: Building Peace from the Inside Out (2022) and the award-winning documentary Fambul Tok, which she produced in 2011. A former political science professor at Principia College, Libby has degrees from Tufts’ Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy and Williams College. Mother to three and especially thrilled with her new title as Grandma, she divides her time between southern Maine and Washington, DC. In this global open moment, Libby is excited to be a part of the Root Change community helping revolutionize development.
