Joseph Momoh Kargbo

Joseph is a District Coordinator in the Moyamba District of Sierra Leone for Fambul Tok, an nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing peace by mobilizing ordinary people—entire communities ravaged by war—in the hard work of reconciliation. In his work at Fambul Tok, he is actively involved in mobilizing, coordinating village committees and community welfare mediation committees and supporting them through trainings. Joseph believes strongly in total community participation and ownership and stays up at night thinking about creating the space for effective community-led and community-owned reconciliation processes. He works diligently with the grassroots communities on issues of power dynamics between men, women and youth and provides training to ensure that they are the center of their development. He has observed considerable success when noting that the voices of women and young people are being taken into consideration during community meetings.

Joseph holds a diploma in administration community development studies from the University of Makeni and has attended a wide range of training workshops including the World Food Program (WFP) Community-Based Participatory and Planning Training in 2020, the Sierra Leone National Action Plan workshop organized by UN Women in 2018, the Workshop on Youth Empowerment and the Women’s Network Movement Women’s Empowerment and Livelihood Training in 2013, the Pro poor Micro Loan Appraisal and Recovery training in  2008 and additional trainings in human rights, conflict resolution, gender acts, advocacy and governance. Joseph is known for engaging communities for peacebuilding, locally-led development and a better future. In his spare time, he loves to exercise and enjoys learning new ideas by reading articles and stories on relevant websites.
