Cameroon

Myra Ndum is a dedicated Research Fellow focused on improving numeracy outcomes for learners with and without disabilities. Her work centers on enhancing educational access and quality, particularly in conflict-affected regions. Myra is deeply committed to elevating the voices of women and girls, advocating for their rights and opportunities, especially in the Northwest region of Cameroon. She is a passionate gender advocate, working tirelessly to promote the lives and education of children living with disabilities.

Myra Ndum will play a crucial role in the ongoing program with Root Change by leveraging her extensive experience in advocating for the rights of women and girls in conflict-affected zones, particularly in the context of Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV). Her deep understanding of the cultural and social dynamics within these communities allows her to effectively elevate the voices of women and girls who have been silenced by violence and oppression.

By integrating her storytelling techniques, Myra will create safe spaces for survivors to share their experiences, fostering a supportive environment where their stories can inspire change and mobilize action. Her expertise in community engagement will be instrumental in building trust and transparency within these communities, ensuring that the program raises awareness and drives sustainable change.

Myra holds a Master’s degree in Social Handicap and Counseling from the University of Yaounde 1, where her research focused on the social empowerment of children in prison. Her academic and professional journey has equipped her with the skills and knowledge to drive impactful change in the lives of vulnerable populations. In her spare time, Myra loves cooking, reading, and storytelling.
