Meet Our Fellows

Community Power Learning Fellows

The Community Power Learning Initiative was formed in 2023 and consists of practitioners, organizers, and community leaders from the U.S. and around the globe who are driven by a shared mission to transform communities and create more equitable and just societies. The participants represent diverse roots and perspectives while being deeply grounded in the principles of empathy, solidarity, and justice. We believe in the power of people to replace oppressive systems with inclusive and just models that benefit all members of a society. We strive to elevate community power in the pursuit of social and economic justice and health equity.

Economic Recovery Corps Fellows (ERC)

The Economic Recovery Corps (ERC) is a new, collaborative initiative designed to accelerate recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic in distressed and historically underserved communities and regions throughout the U.S. by connecting organizations with the talent and capacity needed to advance new ways of doing economic development that promote equitable economic resilience and transformative change. Over a 30-month Fellowship, 65 Fellows are working alongside Host Organizations in under-resourced communities, building a nationwide corps of diverse, cross-sector talent with the skills and expertise to activate regional strategies and promote innovation. Root Change is the Training and Learning Partner in this coalition, which includes training program design and facilitation as well as direct in-person and virtual support to fellows, hosts and partners regarding action research methodologies, capstone development and peer learning.

#ShiftThePower Fellows

Root Change partnered with the Global Fund for Community Foundations to lead the inaugural cohort of #ShiftThePower Fellows: twelve change-makers from ten different countries who represent the diversity of the civil society and social change eco-system. The six-month Fellowship is an experimental approach aimed at strengthening the collective “weave” between change-makers around the world and, by doing so, at deepening and expanding the #ShiftThePower movement.
