Annotate any card. Each reframing card has a note field at the bottom for your own observations, reactions, or key insights. Use this to capture what resonated, what your group challenged, or what you want to follow up on. Annotations auto-save when you click away and are included in all three download formats..

Use the facilitator's guide. A standalone facilitator's guide is linked at the top of the page. It covers how to prepare for a session, how to engage participants with each of the five reframing types, what to do when the group gets stuck, and suggested session timings. Open it in any browser and use File → Print (or Cmd+P / Ctrl+P) to save as a PDF.

Download your analysis. Three formats are available. Text produces a clean plain-text file suitable for pasting into notes or email. HTML produces a styled document with full formatting, ratings, and annotations. Facilitator's guide downloads the standalone general-purpose facilitation guide covering all five reframing types with engagement moves, stuck-group strategies, session design guidance, and quick-reference tables. Open it in any browser and use File → Print (or Cmd+P / Ctrl+P) to save as a PDF.
Session history: Every tension you analyze is logged in the history panel at the bottom of the page. Click any entry to reload it. Click “reload” to rerun the analysis with those same poles and context. History is stored only in your browser tab — closing or refreshing clears it. To preserve your work, download before closing.

Our country is seriously polarized. Finding common ground is elusive and painful, especially when people dig into their positions and frame their arguments as “either / or” propositions.

Enter the Both / And Reframer, a conversation starter that helps users uncover the oceans of possibility that lie between two extreme positions.

Choose a binary set of poles from the presets to explore five distinct reframings. Each reframing helps you to find common ground.

If you think that the presets provided don’t meet the moment, customize. Enter two poles of a dilemma, add context, and review the reframings.

Important tips
  • Explore one pair of poles at a time.
  • Be sure to look at all five reframings for each pair of poles you select.
  • Plan to spend 20–30 minutes discussing results for each pair of poles.
  • In general, work with no more than 3 pairs of poles in a single session.
  • Be sure to scroll down to “Next steps and follow-through” after you have explored the five reframings.
  • Hover over question marks for additional explanations.

or
