By leveraging these tools, we create and disseminate knowledge and resources that empower communities and young leaders to craft and implement locally-driven solutions and amplify movements working toward equity and justice.
Social network analysis (SNA) has been a cornerstone of our approach, allowing us to map and understand the intricate web of relationships within groups. With Pando, Root Change’s proprietary SNA tool suite, we go beyond mapping networks—we uncover hidden power dynamics, identify critical connectors, and pinpoint structural gaps that can hinder collective action. This allows us to support movements and organizations in strengthening their networks, whether by amplifying marginalized voices, decentralizing decision-making, or being more strategic about cross-sector collaboration. Pando not only helps us strengthen democratic processes but also builds resilience by fostering strong, interconnected networks that can support each other in times of need.
Interactive data dashboards allow users to process and visualize programmatic information to identify trends and inform strategy. Dashboards automatically process large quantities of data, displaying results in charts, graphs, and tables on a secure platform. Indicators are customizable and focus on monitoring change over time of key programmatic outcomes.
Incorporating AI into our work has further enhanced our ability to analyze complex data and generate insights that inform our strategies. Root Change’s AI assistant Rooty is a sophisticated AI model that allows us to process large volumes of information quickly and accurately, identifying patterns and trends that might otherwise go unnoticed. Built using ChatGPT’s Application Programming Interface (API), Rooty is scalable and secure, enabling us to develop customized AI assistants for different programs, partners, and clients. Rooty-like assistants can be integrated into networks and movements to enhance tailored knowledge generation, sharing, and discovery, ensuring that critical insights and resources are accessible when and where they are needed.
Ultimately, our use of SNA, interactive dashboards, and AI is about more than just technology; it’s about creating a more equitable and just world. By harnessing social tech, Root Change is not only enhancing the effectiveness of our programs but also contributing to a broader movement that seeks to shift power to local communities and elevate the voices of those who have traditionally been underrepresented.
